One River and its surroundings, as they appear in and around TFMA.

I’m a German-American who grew up both in New England (Massachusetts) and Freiburg, Germany, the gateway to the Black Forest. Both places are my home, and I’ve lived my whole life missing whichever place I wasn’t in. My landscape photography is an exploration and meditation of home, longing, and loss. The Portugese have in their language the word “Saudade”, which embodies the feeling of nostalgia for a thing which has never happened - or did, but which will never happen again. My most successful shots carry this feeling across - a beautiful, bitter-sweet stillness and sadness, searching for the place that will finally make me feel like I am where I should be.

A Photography Show at the Rendezvous in Turners Falls, MA

I will be having small show of a portrait series I’ve been working on this summer, at a bar in Turners Falls (It’s my husband’s bar, it’s my first solo show ever = safe place!).

If anyone non-local is curious to see the work, I’ve posted it over at my other tumblr page, Anja Shoots, which contains my non-landscape work. I will be posting one image a day until they are all up, for a total of 24 portraits.
